SERMON: JESUS IS TRUE AND HE IS FAITHFUL TO DO AS HE HAS SAID IN HIS WORD.
Matthew 28:1-6 KJV
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. [2] And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. [3] His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: [4] And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. [5] And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. [6] He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
"Stop dont Betray Jesus Anymore—He Is Faithful to Do as He Said"
Introduction:
Happy Easter Sunday! Today, we celebrate the greatest victory in history—the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It’s a reminder that death has been defeated, sin has lost its grip, and the promises of God are true. But as we rejoice, the Spirit leads us to reflect on this serious question:
Are we betraying the One who never betrayed us?
John 11:23-26 KJV
Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. [24] Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. [25] Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: [26] And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
Theme: JESUS IS FAITHFUL TO DO AS HE HAS SAID IN HIS WORD.
“Don’t Betray Jesus Anymore—He Is Faithful to Do as He Said”
Let’s read:
Matthew 28:1-6 (KJV)
Vs 6
> “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
Jesus kept His word. He said He would rise again—and He did. He is faithful.
John 2:19-21 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. [20] Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? [21] But he spake of the temple of his body.
1. The Pain of Betrayal
We begin with the one whose name is synonymous with betrayal: Judas Iscariot.
Matthew 26:14-16 KJV
Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, [15] And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. [16] And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
Judas traded Jesus for money. But betrayal doesn’t always come with coins—sometimes it comes with compromise. We may not sell Jesus for silver, but do we trade Him for popularity, pleasure, or pride?
2. The Faithfulness of Jesus
Even as Jesus was betrayed, He remained faithful to His mission.
Matthew 26:38-39 KJV
Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
[39] And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Isaiah 53:7 KJV
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
He took the betrayal, the mocking, the beating, and the cross—because He is faithful.
And after the cross, came the empty tomb.
Luke 24:6-7 KJV
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, [7] Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
3. Why Do We Still Betray Him?
When we deny Him with our silence, disobey His word, or live for the world—we echo the same betrayal.
Peter denied Him three times. Yet, Jesus forgave and restored him.
Luke 22:61-62 KJV
And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. [62] And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
Maybe today, we need to weep bitterly over how we've treated our faithful Savior.
4. He Still Keeps His Word Today
Jesus didn’t just rise—He promised to come again.
John 14:3 KJV
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
So the question remains: Will we be faithful to Him until He returns?
2 Timothy 2:13 KJV
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.5. The Call of Easter: Stop Betraying, Start Believing
Today, Jesus calls us back to Himself—not with judgment, but with grace.
He stands at the door and knocks.
Revelation 3:20 KJV
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Let this Easter Sunday be more than a celebration—let it be a recommitment.
Conclusion:
Jesus did exactly what He said: He died, and He rose again. He was faithful.
Let’s not betray Him anymore with divided hearts, hidden sin, or lukewarm faith.
He is worthy of our loyalty.
He is worthy of our obedience.
He is faithful—will you be faithful too?---
Let us pray:
> "Lord Jesus, thank You for Your faithfulness even when we fall short. Forgive us for the times we’ve betrayed You in word or deed. On this Resurrection Sunday, we recommit our lives to You. Help us to walk in obedience, love, and truth. You are risen indeed—and You are worthy of it all. Amen.
